I'm a 1st year Bachelor student or I'm following the Schakelprogramma Toegepaste Informatica. What should I do?
There will be opening hours reserved for you in the first week of each semester.
If you come during those hours, we'll be able to help you easier.
Please do reserve, it's easier for everyone and cancel reservations when you change your mind.
Who can buy stuff at the course service?
Everyone. Please reserve everything you want to buy.
If you're a Scientica member you get a discount. Read on for more information.
How do I log in?
If you are a student or personnel of any institution of the KU Leuven association, you can log in using your KU Leuven login by clicking "KU Leuven central login" on the left.
If not, just send us an email on cudi@scientica.be. Sometimes you have to reload once after logging in (use your browsers reload button).
What do I need?
That, you can find out by logging in and then clicking "What do I need?" on the left. A big green box invites you to tell the website what courses you're following.
You can either pick them from a list or search for them in a search field below. When the website knows your courses, it will tell you what you need.
Please reserve everything you want to buy and cancel reservations when you change your mind.
How do I reserve/order?
When you are logged in, you can reserve an item by looking it up (using the search field on the left, or in one of the lists in the menu of the left: All Items - Books - Course notes - Other items - What do I need?), clicking "Order item" and confirming.
Please cancel reservations when you change your mind.
How do I cancel a reservation?
Log in, scroll down on the home page, click cancel at the item you don't need and confirm.
My reservation has expired or will expire soon. What do I do?
If your reservation has not expired yet, but will do so within a few days, you can renew it. Log in, scroll down at the home page and click "renew" in the relevant reservation's entry. If your reservation has expired, you have to reserve again and you will end up at the tail of the queue again.
The item I need is not in stock. Is there any point in ordering?
YES, THERE IS! If nobody orders, we don't refill our stock! As soon as a copy is available for you, you will be notified by email automatically.
Please cancel reservations when you change your mind.
I need something that is not used this semester.
Please send us an email on cudi@scientica.be. The website does not notify us of reservations of older items.
Can I help?
YES, YOU CAN! It's not half as boring as you may expect, mainly because there's a lot of nice people around. Just come at one of our opening hours, or just send us an email on cudi@scientica.be!
Who pays the member price and who doesn't?
You pay the member price when you are a Scientica member. This means you own a member card for this academic year of one of the following student associations: Bios, Chemika, Geos, Merkator or Wina.
How do I get a membership card?
Membership card are available at the study associations. Please visit the website of your student association or contact someone from its presidium. The shields on top of the website, link to the five associations.
I can't log in.
Odd. Send us an email on cudi@scientica.be.
Can I pay by card?
You can, but only Belgian cards seem to work. We only have Bancontact, no Proton.
For payments under 10 euros, we have to charge an additional 10 cents.

When is the Course Service open?
Our opening hours can be found on the home page. They are updated on a weekly basis.
Don't see any opening hours at all? Either we're closed, or it's Friday/Saterday and we haven't put next week's hours online yet.
We close at the end of the 11th week of the semester. The openings hours will be ultimatly announced saterday evening for the upcomming week (only if we are opening).
I don't understand the opening hours.
Every column represents a day. Every row represents a time slot that starts at the hour shown at the left of the row, and that ends at the starting hour of the row below. So if row 1 says "12h30" and row 2 says "14h00", then everything in row 1 holds from 12h30 until 14h00.
The opening hours really don't work for me. What should I do?
If you have a sensible reason, send us an email on cudi@scientica.be, and we'll find a solution.
Can I come at a moment that is reserved for 1st Bachelor students?
Yes, but the 1st Bachelor students are given priority.
How do I open the exit door?
Turn the knob until it says click, then pull. And believe in yourself.
Don't worry though, you'll find instructions on the door itself and there's always the CuDi folks to help you out.
